Residential Bollards: Which Bollards Are Best

wulied

Residential customers make up a large portion of our Bollard Security customer base, and for good reason-from a safety and security perspective, there are multiple ways to make the most of bollards in residential premises. If you are still evaluating how your family can benefit, we have listed some of the most useful applications below. However, before we delve deeper, it is necessary to introduce the common queries we often get from customers.

What kind of bollard is best for residential properties?

To be honest, there is no hard and fast answer to this question. In general, it depends on the personal choice of the homeowner. However, based on our experience at Bollard Security, we tend to find that temporary or mobile bollards are more favored by homeowners than static or permanent bollards. (Of course, it depends on their application!)

Generally speaking, telescopic bollards are the first choice for homeowners, as they tend to strike the right balance between safety and convenience. Because they are lighter and easier to manage, they can be moved in and out as needed. Removable lifting bollards Bollards can also create a smooth surface for car driving, so that homeowners can allow or restrict access to their property at will. (However, due to the time required to lock them in the socket-again-they are generally considered not as convenient as telescopic bollards.) Sometimes automatic bollards are used with similar capacities, but these obviously require a large additional investment, and It is often only selected for high-end properties or luxury residences.

Other types of bollards such as bicycle racks are often a popular choice because they provide useful auxiliary functions, especially for teenagers or children in the family. (On the other hand, the anti-terrorist bollard is one of the bollards that can be safely excluded from the choice of most homeowners.)

Useful applications or places for residential bollards

Depending on the size and layout of your property, and what kind of function you want the bollards to achieve, you can choose to install them in many specific locations. The following are just some of our suggestions.

Driveways

We will start from the most obvious position. The driveway of most homes is the main location for vehicles to enter and exit, so it makes sense that this is the area where they are most prone to collisions. Sometimes people may drive too fast, or they may lose control of terrain conditions, such as black ice. Other times, it may just misjudge the distance involved and scrape their car along adjacent vehicles (e.g. yours). This is where our driveway bollards and parking bollards can perform useful functions, whether it is used to divide parking spaces or simple traffic control roles.

Near or within garages

Even if you are very good at reversing and entering the garage, you only need to make a misjudgment or accidentally swipe the accelerator, and then return to the house. This may have varying degrees of consequences, depending on your level of effort! Carefully placed safety bollards can help minimize the chance of this happening outside the garage. You might even want to consider installing removable bollards in it. Once you back there too far, you may damage the contents of the garage or the interior walls. However, installing residential bollards can ensure a minimum distance from the back wall, which can avoid some major troubles in the long run.

They are also useful for motorcycle owners. The sturdy hoop bollards provide excellent anchor points to lock the vehicle. Although most motorcycle owners lock the rear wheels of their bicycles and lean them against the wall, the thief can simply pick up the bicycle anyway and load it onto the back of a truck or other escape vehicle to fix the lock later. This is no stranger. On the other hand, locking the motorcycle to the hoop post means that even if the thieves enter the garage, they still cannot remove the motorcycle from the stand.

Outside perimeter

Although most homeowners may not fully understand it, some properties may find themselves particularly vulnerable to vehicle intrusion. These are not necessarily malicious or criminal in nature—for example, a house located in a hairpin bend, or a place where the speed limit changes suddenly—may find that you often deal with minor vehicle collisions or nearly hit an exterior wall.

On the other hand, if someone completely loses control of the car, the worst case scenario would involve them colliding with the house. In that case, property damage would be the very best outcome, while loss of life would be the very worst. Thankfully, bollards can help protect against this. These are the best safety reasons for homes in high-traffic areas – whereas they can serve similarly useful security functions for homes that are in more out-of-the-way locations.
